Clackamas County Youth & Community Connections: A campaign that motivates young people in Clackamas County, Oregon, to connect with peer-to-peer mental health support
Young people in Clackamas County, Oregon, report using alcohol and marijuana at a higher rate than their peers across the state. Mental health challenges have been identified as a key driving factor in this behavior, with 20-25% of 8th and 11th graders reporting having unmet emotional health needs. The pandemic has exacerbated the challenge, with young people ages 12-15 experiencing depression, anxiety and PTSD at higher rates than before 2020.
Brink worked with the county to develop a Bilingualcampaign, connecting young people with free, accessible peer-to-peer mental health support through YouthLine, empowering them to take proactive steps in caring for their own mental health, and showing them that they’re not alone in the challenges they’re experiencing.

I created a series of custom illustrations for the campaign focusing on the conversation and dialogue, highlighting the ideas of connection and support and demystifying the experience for the audience.
In addition to demystifying the experience, simple line illustrations aim to communicate feelings that might otherwise be difficult to put into words.
Posters, designed in both English and Spanish, were distributed across schools in Clackamas County.
